We will wake up very early, before sunrise, to begin another exciting day of our Choquequirao adventure. After breakfast, we will get ready and start our hike while the morning is still cool and the first light begins to appear over the mountains.

We will leave Chikiska and continue our descent toward Playa Rosalina, located beside the Apurímac River. As the sun gradually rises, the surrounding mountains and canyon begin to reveal spectacular views, creating a beautiful atmosphere for the start of the day.

After reaching Playa Rosalina, we will take a short break before beginning the challenging ascent toward Santa Rosa. The trail climbs steadily through the impressive landscape of the Apurímac Canyon, with dramatic mountain walls and changing vegetation surrounding us.

From Santa Rosa, we continue our ascent toward Marampata. This section requires effort, but the scenery becomes increasingly rewarding as we gain elevation. Along the way, we will enjoy magnificent views across the canyon and surrounding mountains.

As we approach Marampata, the landscape opens up and we begin to appreciate the spectacular location of this small Andean community, with views toward the mountains surrounding Choquequirao.

Upon arrival in Marampata, we will settle into our local accommodation, enjoy dinner, and rest after a rewarding day of trekking. From here, we will be perfectly positioned for the following day’s unforgettable visit to Choquequirao.

We will wake up very early, before sunrise, as an unforgettable day awaits us. After a good night’s rest, we will enjoy a hearty breakfast to recharge our energy before beginning one of the most memorable stages of the trek.

As the first light begins to illuminate the mountains, we will leave Marampata and follow the trail toward the legendary archaeological site of Choquequirao. The hike takes approximately two hours, with spectacular views unfolding along the way as we gradually approach this remarkable hidden destination.

Upon arrival, we begin our guided exploration of Choquequirao, the legendary “Sister of Machu Picchu.” Hidden deep in the mountains, this extraordinary archaeological site offers a truly unforgettable experience of discovery and adventure.

During our visit, we will explore the ancient plazas, ceremonial sectors, agricultural terraces, stone structures, and impressive viewpoints overlooking the surrounding mountains and Apurímac Canyon.

We will also have the opportunity to admire the famous terraces decorated with representations of llamas, one of the most remarkable features of Choquequirao.

As we move through the ruins, the remote setting creates a powerful sense of adventure. Surrounded by dramatic mountains and spectacular landscapes, Choquequirao feels like a place waiting to be discovered.

After exploring the archaeological site, we will have lunch before beginning our return journey to Marampata.

Once we arrive back in Marampata, we will continue our hike with an approximately one-hour descent toward our campsite in Santa Rosa. The trail winds downhill through the dramatic landscape of the Apurímac Canyon, giving us a final opportunity to enjoy the spectacular scenery as the afternoon light begins to fade.

Upon arrival in Santa Rosa, we will enjoy dinner and settle in for the night, resting after an unforgettable day of exploration, adventure, and breathtaking landscapes.

We will wake up very early, before sunrise, to have breakfast and prepare for the final stretch of our trek. As the first light appears over the mountains, we will begin our hike, taking on the last and exciting stage of our unforgettable Choquequirao adventure.

We start with a descent from Santa Rosa toward Playa Rosalina, following the trail deeper into the spectacular Apurímac Canyon. From the river area, we continue toward Chikiska, surrounded by dramatic mountain walls and impressive landscapes.

After a short break in Chikiska, we will face the final major challenge of the trek: the ascent toward Capuliyoc. Step by step, we will climb out of the canyon, knowing that every effort brings us closer to completing this incredible journey.

This final section is not only a physical challenge but also a moment to look back on everything we have experienced over the past four days the dramatic canyon, remote communities, breathtaking landscapes, and the extraordinary ruins of Choquequirao.

Finally, we will reach Capuliyoc, where our private transportation will be waiting for us. After completing this demanding and rewarding trek, we will begin our journey back to Cusco, carrying with us the memories of an unforgettable adventure to the “Sister of Machu Picchu.”

After four days of exploration, challenge, history, and adventure, our Choquequirao journey comes to an end as we return to Cusco in the afternoon.
