Lake Titicaca tour 2 days and the floating islands of uros and taquile, amantani is local life experience along with your stay in an Andean home, it is also a more authentic cultural experience to dive deeper into the daily life of the Andean people on the island of Amantani and other islands visited in this 2 days tour to Lake Titicaca.
Amantani, Taquile, Uros in Lake Titicaca are truly amazing as you have beautiful views and see its people who have lived there since time immemorial, still preserving their history and culture. The Quechua and Aymara speaking residents work the fields with primitive tools, navigate the lake with primitive caballitos de totora (totora reed boat) and harvest crops with methods that have not changed since the time of the Incas. Today they want to share their culture, their ancestral traditions with us, so have fun exploring and relive a small part of the great history of the children of the sun. These natives are good navigators and masters of weaving, so you will have a great time interacting with them on Lake Titicaca for 2 days.
We will pick you up at your hotel at 7:00 am (give us the details of your hotel in Puno), then we will go to the port from where we will board the boat, the first place to visit are the floating islands of the Uros, where, we will learn about the people who live on the floating islands, and we will have time to hang out with them. After the visit to these floating islands, we will continue sailing to reach the next island Amantani, when we arrive to the port of Amantani, the local people will be waiting for us with a big and contagious smile that will take us to their house to have a family lunch, after lunch, we will be part of their daily activities that they do as farmers, then we will explore the island and of course, we will go to Pachatata and Pachamama (pre-Inca temple) from where we will have a beautiful sunset. In the evening around 19:00 we will have dinner. After dinner, we will be part of the small celebration party organized by the locals to enjoy the Andean music made of pure flute, finally at about 10:30 pm we return to the house to sleep. Lunch and dinner included.
Note about family houses: The houses are very simple and the services are basic, but everything is clean. There is no running water in many of the houses and the bathrooms are basic. There are no showers as they get power from solar panels. For many people, this lodging experience and the encounter with the host family is a revelation of the reality of the Andean people at such a high altitude and remoteness.
Temperature: The average temperature during the day is 13ºC/ 57F, sometimes it can be foggy with some rain and the temperature can drop to 8ºC/ 46F. At night, the average temperature is 3ºC/ 37F and sometimes the temperature can drop to -5ºC/ 23F. Please come prepared for this kind of temperature (goose down jacket, fleece jacket, rain jacket, gloves, merino thermal shirt are great).
We will have breakfast, which is prepared by the local family, after that, we will walk downhill and embark on the boat to Taquile Island, the trip is about 1 hour, at our arrival to this island, we will make a short walk to get amazing views while we head to the small village of Taquile, where we will have lunch (this lunch is not included), then we will explore this small village and walk back to the dock to take the boat back to Puno. we will be arriving to the hotel around 4:00 pm.

Peru Hike Company can pick you up from your hotel, as long as it’s in the Historic Center of Puno. The pickup time will be coordinated with your guide in the briefing. The pickup time may vary between 30 and 45 minutes due to traffic. Cusco is a very old city, therefore, it has many narrow cobbled streets. Some hotels and Airbnbs may be located on streets without access to cars or on long, steep slopes, making it difficult to transport luggage. We strongly recommend that you book accommodation with good access.

Therefore, each person can go at their own pace on the route. It may be the case that a group wishes to modify the tour; however, it will be the guide who decides, after consulting with all the participants, if said modifications can be made.
Strikes and demonstrations are usually frequent in Peru and this may interrupt some of our tours. Roads can be blocked and train tracks can be taken over. However, we will try to keep your excursion as planned, even if it means leaving the night before the scheduled date. Under these circumstances, tours may also be cancelled. In case of changes or cancellations, all situations will be coordinated with you by our operations department. Your safety is our highest priority and our decisions will be made to protect it.
You’re responsible for your objects during the tour. Please pay attention to where you leave your things and remember to take everything once you leave our trucks, tents, or restaurants.
