At Peru Hike, we are proud to be part of the history, culture, and living traditions of the Peruvian Andes. On January 16, 2026, we had the honor of participating in the parade celebrating the 45th anniversary of the Historic Sanctuary of Machu Picchu, a unique moment that brought together communities, institutions, and tourism professionals to pay tribute to one of the world’s most important heritage sites. This special event reflects our ongoing commitment to responsible tourism, cultural respect, and the protection of Peru’s most iconic destination.

Heroes of the Sanctuary: Recognition of the forest firefighters who protect Machu Picchu
The emotional highlight was the recognition given to the Sanctuary’s forest firefighters for their specialized and high-risk work in preventing and responding to forest fires.

Peru Hike Participation: More than a Parade, a Declaration of Commitment
Peru Hike was present not only with a contingent of guides and staff, but its participation symbolized the company’s active commitment to the sustainable development of tourism in Machu Picchu. The parade showcased traditional costumes inspired by Andean culture, banners with messages about heritage conservation, and informational materials for visitors on best environmental practices.
The agency also used the platform to promote its vision of responsible tourism, highlighting how promoting experiences such as hikes that respect local communities, traditional trails like the Inca Trail, or alternative routes—all under ethical and environmental standards—contributes to protecting this world treasure.
An Anniversary with a Look Towards the Future
The 45th anniversary celebrations were framed within a context of dialogue on the sustainable management of the Historic Sanctuary of Machu Picchu, which includes the approval of a new long-term master plan (2026–2030) to strengthen the protection of its cultural and natural heritage.
This approach not only highlights the importance of preserving the Inca ruins and their biodiversity, but also positions tourism—and those who promote it responsibly—as a strategic ally in achieving a balance between conservation and local economic development.

Conclusion: More Than a Share, a Declaration of Values
Peru Hike’s participation in the commemorative parade for the 45th anniversary of the Historic Sanctuary of Machu Picchu was much more than a group parade: it represented a firm commitment to conscious, collaborative, and sustainable tourism. In every smile, every step coordinated to the rhythm of Andean music, and every message shared with the public, it was clear that Peruvian tourism knows how to celebrate its heritage while preserving it.
For this reason, Peru Hike reaffirms its commitment to continue bringing travelers from around the world to discover the magic of Machu Picchu, with respect for the ancestral culture, the nature surrounding the sanctuary, and the communities that make this dream possible.
